Terang College by Project 12 Architecture

Hampden Specialist School (HSS) and Terang College were awarded $12M as part of the 20/21 State Budget. The project involved the consolidation of Hampden Specialist School and Terang Junior School onto the Terang Senior College campus.

The new Library Hub for Terang College replaced the existing worn and asbestos-ridden Library building on the Terang College site. The design and scale of the building provides a welcoming, identifiable, and prominent point of entry from the street. The design is intended to be civic in nature, providing a facility which will instil a sense of pride for the school and wider community.

The building accommodates 4 new classrooms for primary and secondary students, senior and junior library, seminar rooms, offices and works areas. New classrooms to the south of the building provide contemporary teaching spaces for Terang College students. The rooms have been designed to allow options for discreet and flexible learning. The library is located to the north of the building with connection to external teaching and landscaped areas. The library now provides a student hub and study space for senior students and junior library with book display and story time/group reading area.

This building provides a central and truly inclusive space on the site. It looks to physically represent the consolidation and coming together of the three schools on the one campus.
